Arsenal are short and getting shorter for their trip to Selhurst Park tonight – despite their recent abject away form.
It’s not confidence in the Gunners however (how could it be at present?) but a weakness in Crystal Palace that is causing the price contractions.
Palace may be without a staggering 11 players for the 8pm Premier League clash and that’s bad news for Sam Allardyce with his side hovering just three points off the relegation zone – although in fairness Palace will still have a game in hand on both Hull and Swansea after tonight.
Allardyce said: “I can see it going right to the wire, in the end it will be about who can hold their nerve and that is the big key to success when the pressure is on you at this level.
“When the bell starts ringing you know the time is running out. You’ve got to be very brave and stand up and be counted in those situations if you want to survive and be in the Premier League next year.”
Arsenal will leapfrog Man U on goal difference and move into fifth if securing all three points and it’s a match that is likely to see goals with the temporary Palace starting XI combining with a leaky Arsenal defence which have conceded 14 goals in their last five matches on the road in all competitions.
Crystal Palace have just two wins in 33 top-flight matches against Arsenal (D9, L22) and may struggle again tonight with their injury woes and against a side that desperately have a point (or three) to prove at the moment.
