All eyes on Dublin tonight for Ireland v Serbia, one of the more competitive World Cup Qualifiers. The reverse fixture finished 2-2. In fact they have only met four times and there has been a draw on three occasions.
It’s a huge game for both sides who sit first and second in Group D – Serbia leading by two points.
The Serbs definitely come into this in better form. They beat Moldova 3-0 on Saturday whilst Ireland inexplicably drew 1-1 with Georgia who are out of contention in terms of World Cup qualification.
More bad news from that game. Martin O’Neill will be without the services of Jeff Hendrick who has failed to recover from a thigh injury.
O’Neill is pragmatic about the challenge ahead tonight. He said; “We’ll have to be really, really at our best to win the game – but we can do that.
“We’re in there fighting, that’s what we’re doing. We are unbeaten in the group at this moment. It’s hard to believe, but we’re unbeaten in the group.
“We’re going to try and do two things – win the game, and if we can’t do that, then we’ll try to get something out of it.”
