Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Thursday’s World Cup Qualifier between ENGLAND v SLOVENIA and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
Slovenia have never beaten England but before you think of ploughing in at short odds it’s worth remembering that all five of their games have been close and the reverse fixture finished 0-0 last October.
England would clinch top spot in Group F with a win but it’s not a must win game for England. However, Slovenia still have plenty to play for with them currently one point behind Slovakia in third spot and needing a win to keep alive hopes of qualification.
Southgate is still undecided as to who will wear the captain’s armband in Russia with the captaincy being rotated. Harry Kane (7/2 with Star Sports to score two or more) leads the team out tonight at Wembley for the game which is live on ITV.
Southgate said: “We have several people that I think can step into that fold now – and that can only benefit us.
“It’s not just about the matchday – it’s everything around the camp, thinking how you integrate the squad and how you involve other people and the moments to step forward, leading by example, leading by having a quiet word with people.
“There’s lots of things that go towards making a good captain. That won’t happen overnight, we’re talking about leadership experience that comes over a longer period of time.”

Not a game I can too enthused about from a punting point of view but I think there could be goals despite it ending 0-0 last time.
