S.P. Read Esq: Arsenal v Liverpool

For backers of goals, it could be Christmas come early at the Emirates tonight for Arsenal v Liverpool – a match that usually throws up plenty of goals.
Add to the mix that Liverpool have now scored 24 goals in nine away games and we should be in for a cracker (enough of the Christmas references, promise). The reverse fixture finished 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in August.
Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp said on the goal potential of the match: “I don’t know if there will be a lot of goals again, but we go there to perform and to get as much as we can. We know that’s difficult but in this moment I feel it is possible.
“Arsenal are a complete football team, they are able to do everything, switch and change styles. Against us it happened that they played a lot of long balls to Giroud. He cannot play (Friday) so that will mean they will change a few things maybe.
“But they are able to create, they will have a strong side whoever will play. It means a lot of good, good footballers on the pitch.”
Fifth plays fourth with valuable Champions League places the main target thanks to Man City’s domination at the top of the table.
Arsenal will be without forward Olivier Giroud following his hamstring injury.
The Gunners are finding Liverpool tough work – it’s been five matches since they’ve beaten Liverpool and I think Liverpool will continue that momentum tonight.
