S.P. Read Esq: Newcastle v Man City
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Wednesday’s Premier League match between NEWCASTLE v MAN CITY and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
After the feast of action (* and eating) on Boxing Day we’re back to manageable portions tonight with just one match to look forward to in the Premier League tonight as Newcastle welcome runaway leaders Man City.
The only thing that looks like stopping the Man City momentum would now appear to be Man City themselves. Over confidence, feeling of job already done etc against a team who might be fighting for every single point.
We certainly have that scenario tonight with Newcastle placed perilously (again) in the Premier League table just a point off the bottom three. You just have to wonder if the Magpies do get relegated again whether they will bounce back as quickly to the top flight?
Rafael Benitez does at least lead his side out on the back of a recent win – their 3-2 win over West Ham at the London Stadium ended a desperate run of eight losses and one draw in the Premier League.
Benitez said: “We have been on a bad run but we have kept working hard and maintained belief.
“The victory has given us a big boost in confidence, and it will be good if we can now back that result up against Manchester City.”
Newcastle will welcome back Jonjo Shelvey who is available after suspension, whilst Man City are expected to rotate their side with us being slap bang in the middle of the festive period.

City bid to extend their current record of successive wins to 18 and it’s really hard to see anything stopping that.
However, I think there will be goals at both ends and will sell the time of the third match goal at 69 minutes with Star Spreads.
