A nice return from the corners trade last night at Stamford Bridge
Plenty of hot-pots on tonight’s card including Liverpool and Spurs but the Shakhtar Donetsk v Man City looks a lot more competitive on paper at least.
Man City beat Shakhtar 2-0 in the reverse leg at the Etihad and having already qualified, with top spot guaranteed, motivation might well be an issue for them in Ukraine. Understandable especially with the impending Manchester derby on the horizon at the weekend.
Shakhtar need a point to progress and, like City, are leading their domestic league.
Despite the relative insignificance of this game for Man City I can still see goals. One interesting stat is that none of City’s 41 Champions League group games have ever ended goalless.
Kevin de Bruyne is suspended and David Silva hasn’t travelled and is also doubtful for the Sunday derby.
Pep Guardiola is likely to give a lot of his youngsters a chance and who can blame him.
