A London derby between Arsenal v Chelsea is always a big match – it’s just a shame tonight’s encounter will have little consequence in terms of the title race.

Both sides are well placed for Champions League places though in third and sixth respectively and a win for Arsenal would see them leap-frog arch rivals Arsenal into fifth spot.

After sharing the spoils (at 90m minutes) in the Community Shield back in August the reverse fixture also finished stalemate at 0-0 in September at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal’s biggest challenge tonight will be finding a way through the Chelsea defence which has only conceded one goal in the last five matches.

The Gunners have a few injury headaches. Mesut Ozil will face a late fitness test, while defender Laurent Koscielny could miss out.

Nacho Monreal is still absent with an ankle knock, while Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey remain sidelined by hamstring injuries.

The visitors have no fresh injury worries and will be boosted by the expected return of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas who have both been rested.

Both sides have away games at the weekend against Championship opposition in the FA Cup.
