S.P. Read Esq: Everton v Man U
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Monday’s Premier League match between EVERTON v MAN U and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
The Premier League feast of action continues today with the late game at Goodison Park seeing the visit of Man U.
I can’t be entertaining Man U at odds-on for this – they look like a side who have had the stuffing knocked out of them with three draws in a row against Leicester, Burnley and Southampton.
Hypothetically speaking, those dropped six points would have narrowed the gap on Man City to nine points and at least have kept a modicum of interest in the title race.
As it is, Man U have got to be careful now that they don’t turn the recent drama into a crisis. They are perfectly poised for a top four finish but if the fighting spirit goes then we could see a free-fall. It’s even more perilous for United given the recent injuries to Romelu, Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
United manager Jose Mourinho said: “The boys are trying, but we have lots of problems in the team and we lost Lukaku and Ibrahimovic for a month. We have difficulty to rotate players.
“Now we have to cope with Everton and Derby County and, after that, we have an open space of nine or 10 days before Stoke City. Hopefully in this period we can rest, we can work and we can recover some players to attack the second part of the season.”
Everton have been in much better form under Sam Allardyce who said: “I was brought in because this team was threatened with relegation. Now the players in their response have done absolutely magnificent in turning that around and into a positive situation to be able to move forward.
“But we’ve just got to keep working at all of that.”
