Good morning to all our Star Spreads customers and a welcome to our exclusive preview of this evening’s all weather card at Dundalk. Eight races in all down for decision ,starting at 5.50 with the six furlong handicap and running all the way through to 9.15 when the card concludes with a fascinating looking one mile conditions event. Racing at Dundalk takes place on a polytrack surface, ten furlongs in circumference, and is a track where traditionally low numbers hold a significant advantage, particularly in races over five and six furlongs where if those drawn near the rails can establish an early an early advantage they can be hard to peg back.
It can also pay to follow jockeys that ride the track well. Jockeys that fit into that category and who have mounts tonight include Wayne Lordon (winner on Kedleston here last Friday),Shane Foley (on duty at Meydan yesterday) and the senior jockey of the weigh room Kevin Manning who scored with a nice double here last Friday evening.
Some trackfax now for your perusal .Jockey Fergal Lynch has established a profitable relationship with trainer David Marnane over the last few meetings, watch for Almaada in the 5.50 and Aragorn Icon in the last at 9.15. Previous course winners are usually worth considering also. Mick Halford’s Lord Kenmare is an honest handicapper who has won four times around this circuit, in fact he has never won anywhere else and has drawn the much sought after two box in tonight’s one mile handicap at 6.50. Andy Oliver’s Mutasareb is another horse who loves his trips down to Dundalk. He’s already racked up four course wins and is no forlorn hope to notch up a fifth in the ten furlong handicap at 7.20. Finally consider the chances of Rocky’s Pride in the 9.15 race. Trained at Garristown by Garvan Donnelly ,he made all under Seamie Heffernan here last week,I wonder will similar tactics be employed tonight ?
Trainers that normally do well here are Ger Lyons (14% at the track) ,Curragh based Michael Halford and Eddie Lynam who rarely leaves here empty handed. Watch also for some of the lesser lights amongst the training ranks. Garvan Donnelly has an admirable 21% strike rate here while Cahir based Michael Byrne, a trainer that has done extremely well with his small team of handicappers, has a profitable three in nine strike rate at the venue.
