Swansea too strong for Hull who don't travel well
Swansea v Hull
Premier League
8pm, SKY
Michael Laudrup’s Swansea are a side that are rapidly going up in my estimations, even though they thwarted my bet on Newcastle last week.
Just when I thought they might be running out of steam due to a busy Europa League schedule, up they pop to beat Newcastle 3-0 – a result that looks even more impressive with the hindsight of Newcastle going on to beat Man U on Saturday.
It’s been a good period for Swansea. In 2011 they became the first Welsh team to play in the top division since the Premier League’s formation in 1992 and then earlier this year Swansea beat Bradford City 5–0 to win the 2012–13 Football League Cup and in doing so won the first major English trophy in the club’s history and has seen them play with credit in this seasons UEFA Europa League.
They meet Hull for the first time in the top flight tonight….
HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Apr 2011 Championship Swansea 1-1 Hull
Aug 2010 Championship Hull 2-0 Swansea
Aug 2008 Carling Cup Swansea 2-1 Hull
Apr 2004 Div 3 Swansea 2-3 Hull
Sep 2003 Div 3 Hull 1-0 Swansea
May 2003 Div 3 Swansea 4-2 Hull
Sep 2002 Div 3 Hull 1-1 Swansea
Mar 2002 Div 3 Swansea 1-0 Hull
Sep 2001 Div 3 Hull 2-1 Swansea
Feb 2000 Div 3 Swansea 0-0 Hull
The Swans could have done without this game moving to Monday as they head to Switzerland to play St Gallen on Thursday with Europa League qualification not yet in the bag.
Hull have not kept a clean sheet in their last ten away league games and have won just one of their last 31 Premier League away games (D7, L23).
With that kind of statistic you’d expect them to be much worse that 13th in the table but they perform particularly well at home and earlier this month claimed the notable scalp of Liverpool when they beat them 3-1.
I expect a Swansea win and think they’ll score goals so will look at the supremacy market on Star Spreads with a buy at around 0.95.
ADVICE
BUY SWANSEA / HULL at around 0.95
