S.P. Read Esq. England, remember them?
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq heads to Wembley tonight for England’s last home game before the World Cup next month. They face Peru (8pm, LIVE ITV).
England’s road to the World Cup in Brazil continues tonight at Wembley as they face Peru in their last match on home soil before the tournament next month.
After this, England travel to Miami for their final two warm-up games against Ecuador and Honduras before their first World Cup Group D game proper on June 14 against Italy.
It’s been a while since England played Peru !!

Roy Hodgson seems to be enjoying an easier time of things compared to recent England managers and that’s simply because the sense of expectation on England seems to be no longer there.
In the past, we’ve expected the England team to perform well, and now it seems to be we expect them to perform badly.
Whether this release of pressure will actually prove a positive for England remains to be seen.
They are long odds on tonight to beat Peru but it would be folly to underestimate the South American challengers who have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven friendlies. Don’t forget, Chile upset the odds when winning at Wembley in November.
Friendly or not, you would assume that England would want to leave on a positive note and head to the World Cup with at least some momentum.
Roy Hodsgon said: “I must admit that on this occasion our work has been much more focused on June 14, but it is a game we are looking forward to and certainly one we are going to take very seriously. We are desperate to leave England having left behind a good impression for our fans.”
Hodgson has a fairly clear injury book with the exception of Luke Shaw who was ill mid-week. Returning from injury are defenders Phil Jagielka (hamstring), Phil Jones (shoulder) and midfielder Jack Wilshere (foot).
