S.P. Read Esq. Royal Ascot and Spain v Chile
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P.Read Esq. previews the second day of Royal Ascot and SPAIN v CHILE at 8pm !!
Two bets and two winners yesterday !!
I bought the distances at Royal Ascot at 9.4 and the meeting closed with a make-up of 12 so a profit of 2.6 points and there was good news later in the day when Brazil and Mexico finished 0-0 which was good news for my recommended sell of the Brazil supremacy.
All in all, it was a profit on the day of 28 points and I’m now 77 points up since the World Cup started.
It was a great opening day at Royal Ascot and the heavy hitters were rewarded when Toronado obliged in the opener and Kingman later on in the St James’s Palace Stakes. Both never looked like being beaten in all honesty.
Treve will be the banker for many on day two. She was electric when winning the Arc last season and lost little in defeat when narrowly coming up second best against the mighty Cirrus Des Aigles in her comeback race at Longchamp.
If you are looking at getting Treve beaten – then you will be looking mainly at the ground – it seemed to be riding a lot faster yesterday than the official description, judged by the winning times at least. In any event, this looks certain to be the fastest ground she has ever raced over on this, her first start, outside of France.
The football really hots up in Brazil today with defending champions Spain NEEDING the win against Chile.
The Spaniards were left reeling at the hands of the Netherlands in the opening game which saw a 1-1 half-time score converted to 5-1 drumming at full-time.
Chile looked good against Australia in their opener, winning 3-1, and putting the game to bed early on.
This is by no means easy for Spain who are marginally bigger in price than Chile to get out of Group B.
Backers of Spain will take comfort from the fact that Chile have NEVER beaten Spain in 10 previous encounters (drawn two) and don’t forget also that Spain also lost their opening game against Switzerland four years ago before going on to lift the trophy.

I’m in effect pressing the repeat button today at the home of sports spread betting – Star Spreads.
I’m again buying distances at Royal Ascot. A starting point of 8.1 is even more tempting than yesterday’s 9.4 and hopefully we will see at least one wide margin success. Possible Treve?
I think Spain and Chile will also be tight so am selling supremacy with, in effect, a 1.05 goal start to Chile.
