The Sky cameras are at Dean Court tonight for what should prove a thriller in the Championship as Bournemouth bid to close in on the remaining automatic promotion spot and join Watford in the Premier League next season. Bournemouth vitally have one game in hand on the chasing pack and a win tonight will virtually seal automatic promotion barring mathematical miracles.
No surprises then that despite the game being on TV it’s a complete sell out tonight.
Bournemouth remain in great form and are now unbeaten in their last 11 Championship matches (WON 7 DRAWN 4) and come up against a Bolton side who have only won one of their last six games and conceded an astonishing 37 goals in 18 away matches. It’s no surprise then that Star Sports were quoting 2/7 at lunchtime about the home win with Bolton having not much to play for beyond pride. Bournemouth ran out 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture earlier this season but Bolton’s supporters will take comfort from the fact that they have won on each of their last three visits to Dean Court.
Bournemouth in the Premier League would be a fantastic story for football. Just seven years ago they were minutes away from being liquidated. Now, they are within touching distance of top flight football.
Bournemouth’s manager Eddie Howe was recently named as the ‘Football League manager of the decade’ and has the luxury of a close to full strength side to choose from tonight with the exception of defender Simon Francis who is suspended.
