Back to the play-offs today and the second leg of Motherwell v Rangers for the right to a place in the Scottish Premiership next season.
Of course Motherwell are already in the Premiership and it looks like staying that way as they beat Rangers 3-1 at Ibrox to take a comfortable lead into this second leg – and of course they now enjoy home advantage.
Rangers actually trailed 3-0 on Thursday but gave themselves a squeak of a chance when Darren McGregor scored on 82 minutes.
It’s not a total surprise to see Rangers as favourites for the return leg at Fir Park, despite the result in the first leg.
I think they are better than they played midweek and even at 3-1 will fancy their chances. Motherwell are likely to defend their lead so their chances of scoring are reduced hence it’s all going to be about Rangers attacking (and not leaving too many doors open !!!).
Motherwell manager Ian Baraclough said: “We have been strong at home and we have scored goals. We know if we can score on Sunday, it will make Rangers’ task more difficult. But we know we will probably have to defend for long periods as well and make sure we are fully ready for what Stuart [McCall] and his men are going to bring to the party.”
