S.P.Read Esq: Swansea v Stoke

Monday night football from the Liberty Stadium and Swansea v Stoke is usually a pairing that produces plenty of goals. But then again, Newcastle v Norwich usually doesn’t and we all know what happened there.
Swansea are strong at home, currently unbeaten this season including a 2-1 defeat of Man U in August. They also had a good 2-2 draw against Spurs last time out in a match where they had just two shots on target and converted both!
Swansea’s manager Garry Monk has used just 14 players all season, the fewest in the league and said ahead of tonight’s game: “We need to get to a level where we are consistently performing and we did that exceptionally well last season. We have a key period in our season now, and the couple of extra days’ preparation for Stoke because of the Monday night date is good.”
Swansea’s Andre Ayew is expected to play having been ruled out of Ghana’s friendly last week with a knee injury. Jonjo Shelvey has also recovered from a knee problem.
Stoke look to have turned things around after three draws and three losses from their opening six games. Since then they have beaten Fulham in the Capital One Cup and arrive here on the back of Premier League wins against Bournemouth at home and Aston Villa away. They will be without Mame Diouf (compassionate leave) and Shay Given is very doubtful with a knee injury.
