S.P.Read Esq: Tottenham v Aston Villa

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League 8pm kick off on Monday between TOTTENHAM v ASTON VILLA and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadIt’s been a fair weekend for the Premier League shorter priced options – Everton and Southampton yesterday adding to both Man City and Arsenal winning on Saturday. Chelsea surely can no longer be considered bankers in anyone’s accas these days?

Many short odds players will still be reliant on Spurs in the final match of the ‘weekend’ tonight. They face Aston Villa at White Hart Lane and for those thinking of going in at short odds they might just reflect on the same fixture last season which the Villains won 1-0.

Villa’s current form though is pretty atrocious. They are propping up the table with just four points from 10 games and on a run of just two wins from 13 games this season across both the league and the Capital One Cup. Their only win of the season remains their opening day defeat of Bournemouth.

There may be a ‘bounce factor with the widely expected news, confirmed tonight, that Remi Garde (pictured) has been appointed the new Villa manager. Garde has described the move as an “unbelievable honour” so clearly he is a ‘glass half full’ kind of man! The appointment is too soon to have any impact on tonight’s game and Garde will watch from the stands.

Caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald said: “The players are very worried about the situation where they are. They’re hurting as they’re bottom of the league. Talking to the lads, they believe they can get out of this, without a doubt. They’re determined. When you become a professional sportsman you want to be the best that you can be and be successful.”

In contrast, Spurs would move into fifth place with a win tonight and have only lost one Premier League game this season, their first week defeat at the hands of Man U when a Kyle Walker own goal split the two sides.
