S.P.Read Esq: Leicester City v Man City

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League game on Tuesday between LEICESTER CITY v MAN CITY and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadWe’re slap bang in the middle of panto season and tonight we find out whether, in the case of Leicester City, they will all live happily ever after or slip down the beanstalk quicker than you can say Auld Lang Syne.

Their progress has been the talk of the season so far but, excuse the cliche, it’s a season of two halves and most pundits expect them to drop back as we approach the New Year.

That puts far more pressure on them than Man City tonight because if Leicester are to have title aspirations, then a win tonight over one of their principal rivals must surely be a pre-requisite. Whatever you think of Leicester’s chances, three points tonight would send them back to the top of the table:

2 points clear of Arsenal
6 points clear of Spurs
6 points clear of Man City

In that scenario you can expect some shuffling in the Star Sports fixed odds title odds too. Pre-match they are:

5/4 Man City
6/4 Arsenal
10/1 Spurs
16/1 Leicester

Leicester have got Bournemouth and Villa in the next couple of weeks so even more reason to think that a win for them tonight could give them a real mid-season tonic.

The Foxes nine match unbeaten run came to an end at Anfield on Boxing Day – it was a 1-0 defeat and only their second loss of the season so far. Their other defeat was a 5-2 thumping by Arsenal.

The good news for Leicester is that their leading scoring duo of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are fit to start tonight. Both were substituted at Anfield and have been pivotal to the Leicester success story so far.

The Foxes will also take heart from the fact that Man City captain Vincent Company is out with a calf injury.

Man City are unbeaten in their last five league trips to Leicester (W3, D2) but this is very much ‘new’ Leicester and I think they will fight as if their season depends on it tonight. In many ways, it does, if they really want the fairytale to turn into reality.

Forget panto, Paramount Pictures will be making a feature film if Leicester can do the unthinkable this season.

I think there will be goals tonight – I’m a seller of the third match goal at 71 minutes with Star Spreads. A small profit with the bookings buy last night. I bought at 58 and it scraped over the line at 60 at Old Trafford !!
