S.P. Read Esq: Leicester City v Man City
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash between LEICESTER CITY v MAN CITY and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
It’s not inconceivable that last season’s Champions Leicester could find themselves in the bottom three – depending on how the earlier results pan out.
And they certainly are facing tough opponents at the King Power in the shape of Man City.
Leicester held them to a 0-0 draw last season and beat Man City 3-1 at the Etihad but that tidal wave of form is rapidly becoming a distance memory for the Foxes.
Whether the distraction of the Champions League adventure has proved a step too far for Leicester is a possibility – even though their European form has been much superior to that shown in the league. Their last league victory came in October against Crystal Palace and since then they have drawn two and lost three Premier League games.
Whilst their Champions League dreams remain alive – a 5-0 thumping at the hands of Porto midweek was hardly the best preparation for this key game.
Leicester’s manager Claudio Ranieri said: “I want players to play for the team, to be strong, to fight and to be competitive – I want no more. If you lose this how can you win?
“Not even the big players can win without fight. That is football.
“Last season we won because some big teams didn’t fight as well as us and now we want that back, not to win the title but to defend the title and not be in the relegation zone.”
Man City were comprehensively beaten by Chelsea at the Etihad in their latest league game and will be keen to get their season back on track immediately. They started the season with the perfect 10 wins from 10 across all competitions but their form hasn’t been so strong since.
With Arsenal and Liverpool to come over the Christmas period, City will be looking at this game as a must win if they are to continue hopes of reclaiming the Premier League title.
