S.P. Read Esq. Sutton United v Arsenal
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Monday’s FA Cup clash between SUTTON UNITED v ARSENAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
In roulette they say (correctly) that the ball has no memory.
In other words, you shouldn’t let the previous numbers affect your future choices.
It’s hard not to, as most gamblers look at recency over longer term logic – if logic can ever be applied to roulette that is.
Sutton clearly have a mountain to climb against Arsenal to reach the quarter finals – and will need lightning to strike twice for the non leaguers.
The fact that Lincoln have already progressed will suggest to many that to get two non league clubs in the final eight (and ironically they would play EACH OTHER) is beyond probability. But we’re back to ‘roulette logic’ and letting a past unrelated event have an influence over tonight!
It will certainly be a rude awakening for the Gunners. I’ve seen pictures of death chambers in the States that look in better shape than the away dressing room and the artificial 3G pitch at Gander Green Lane will clearly be a novelty factor (and possible excuse) for the pampered multi-millionaires.

Sutton have already hit the jackpot with this tie against Arsenal and a 7.50pm slot on BBC1 – but the accountants will be praying for a DRAW much more than a win to get the lucrative bonus at the Emirates.
Sutton come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Guiseley in the National League (where they are struggling) and Arsenal on the back of a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League and are likely to be without centre-back Laurent Koscielny after that match.
Sutton United manager Paul Doswell is clearly pragmatic. He said: “If you see Ozil and Sanchez on the team sheet our chance doesn’t come beyond nought. Or you go the other way and you play a team of under-23s that are still internationals mixed in with one or two of their squad players, and that gives us that one percent chance that we’d be after.”
