S.P. Read Esq: Chelsea v Arsenal
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Sunday’s Premier League clash between CHELSEA v ARSENAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
If Liverpool didn’t kill off every acca yesterday in all kingdom come then Spurs made sure in the later kick off. A disastrous result for both sides in terms of dropped points in games they dominated. Potential champions need to do better than that.
It’s ridiculously early in the season but Man City are looking rock solid and the title race already looking a three-horse race between them, Man U and Chelsea.
Man U and Chelsea both have home games and the home double looks fairly solid in my book.
First up, Chelsea take on Arsenal at 1.30pm – a fixture that usually produces goals and despite an early weakness on Chelsea earlier this morning the market has again turned more positive towards them approaching kick off.
This should surely be a good time for Chelsea to be taking on the Gunners who have already found Stoke and Liverpool too good this season and only scrambled home to beat Leicester 4-3.
Chelsea have bounced back strongly since their opening weekend defeat to Burnley (who continue to play well) and have beaten Spurs, Everton and Leicester in the Premier League and demolished FK Qarabag 6-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte said: “I think that Arsenal is one of the six top teams in England and I think that they have a really good squad and want to fight for something important.
“For this reason, I think it is a massive game for us. When you play against Arsenal it is the same as when you play against [Manchester] City, Liverpool, [Manchester] United or Tottenham.
“Arsenal are a big rival. I don’t understand why they can’t fight for the title.”
The timing of the European games certainly favour Chelsea – Arsenal played 48 (or rather 49) hours later on Thursday when their kick off was delayed. Despite falling behind to FC Cologne, Arsenal ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
Captain Gary Cahill returns to the starting XI for Chelsea and Eden Hazard is on the bench having recovered from a fractured ankle.
Theo Walcott is on Arsenal’s bench having sustaining a calf injury in their Europa League game.
