S.P. Read Esq: Chelsea v Man City
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash between CHELSEA v MAN CITY and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
The weekend’s highlight is without doubt Chelsea v Man City at Stamford Bridge. The 5.30pm kick off sees 3rd play 1st in the table but it seems highly likely that Man U will leapfrog to the top of the table if they can beat hapless Crystal Palace in their earlier 3pm kick off.
There’s been plenty of drama off the field with the news that City will be without Sergio Aguero who suffered a broken rib in a car accident in Amsterdam on Thursday.
Aguero’s condition is still being assessed by club doctors but it seems highly likely that it will be a matter of months rather than weeks.
It remains to be seen whether this will halt City’s explosive start to the season which has seen them win five of their six games and score an incredible 29 goals in nine games – including the Champions League and EFL Cup.
Chelsea have hardly made a sluggish start themselves despite losing their opening game against Burnley. Since then the Blues have remained unbeaten and won all their games since in all competitions bar a 0-0 draw with Arsenal.
They also have the psychological edge of doing the double over City last season – the only side to do so.
Apart from the Aguero news, for City Benjamin Mendy is sidelined with a ruptured cruciate ligament and Vincent Kompany is still nursing a calf injury.
Chelsea are favoured by the team news and Eden Hazard could make his first league start of the season, whilst Pedro is likely to play after being rested in midweek.
Chelsea’s head coach Antonio Conte said on Hazard: “If he was able to play one game like the last game against Atletico Madrid it means he’s ready now to play with continuity.
“For us, he’s an important player. Last season he had an important season, he played very well, he performed as a top player. I’m very happy for him.
“It will not be easy to make decisions, because, in my eyes, there is the last performance against Atletico Madrid.
“Every single player performed very well in this game. But I have to check the physical condition for every single player and then to make the best decision.”
