The Racing Post have identified what could be the ‘killer stat’ for this afternoons high noon (well 4pm) battle at the Emirates between Arsenal and Tottenham.

“Tottenham have won just one of their last 22 away matches against Arsenal.”

And this corresponding fixture has finished 5-2 to Arsenal on both occasions (what odds would have you got on that !!!

The head-to-head records also point to plenty of goals – a very high average of 4.2 over the last 10 times they have met.

Mar 2013 Premier Tottenham 2 – 1 Arsenal
Nov 2012 Premier Arsenal 5 – 2 Tottenham
Feb 2012 Premier Arsenal 5 – 2 Tottenham
Oct 2011 Premier Tottenham 2 – 1 Arsenal
Apr 2011 Premier Tottenham 3 – 3 Arsenal
Nov 2010 Premier Arsenal 2 – 3 Tottenham
Sep 2010 Carling Cup Tottenham 1 – 4 Arsenal
Apr 2010 Premier Tottenham 2 – 1 Arsenal
Oct 2009 Premier Arsenal 3 – 0 Tottenham
Feb 2009 Premier Tottenham 0 – 0 Arsenal

Where does this leave the Star Spreads punter ?

As always the key is to have a view on what you think will happen and THEN compare it with the prices (NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND) to see if you can get an edge either on the buy or the sell.

The total goals market, for example, is set at around 2.95-3.15 so with the above average of 4.2 I’m quite happy to buy at 3.15.

Secondly – it could be a very lively game for ref Michael Oliver to control and I’m having an interest in buying the bookings line at around 56.

SUMMARY
BUY TOTAL GOALS at around 3.15
BUY BOOKINGS at around 56
