Doing The Doos

Due to us operating in Ireland and our sister company being in Hove I managed to squeeze in two office Christmas parties this year. The Irish one was a small affair at Brasserie 66 in Dublin, a manly steakhouse in the city centre.

The meal was superb and we kicked on to some nightclub at about midnight. Tony, one of the Irish lads, turned out to be all mouth and all trousers as he got us in for free and into the VIP area with bottles of champagne. He then departed to return five minutes later with a bevy of beauties. Feeling like a fat married middle-aged man I left the chat to the rest of the boys. Charlie was in full flow chatting up his first target when he spilled a full pint into her lap. Like a rat leaving a sinking ship he moved on to girl number two, where I believe he had more luck. I don’t know because I knocked off about 1am to have my nightly cocoa in the hotel. I was regaled with stories of dancing and ladies the next day in the office but my best memory of the night was the goose fat roasties, yum.

Do two was a week and a bit later in Brighton. It was fantastically organised by Pam and Ivan and everyone had a great time. There were nearly one hundred people there and I enjoyed chatting to as many as I could. For me it was similar to the Irish do as I had a great time chatting to all and sundry until midnight and then sloped off as I had to fly to Dublin at 6.50 the next morning. In order not to miss my Gatwick flight I stayed in the Yotel at Gatwick which I hired for 6 hours. It was an interesting pod that I stayed in of about 7 foot by 8 feet but had a bed, TV, shower and toilet and it was a good night’s sleep.

I’m thinking my New Year’s resolution is to get to below 250lbs in the New Year after fattening up at all these Christmas doos.
