NFL Divisional Round Picks

Last week was a bit of a howler for this betting blog as I went 1-2 to post my first losing week of the season.

So let’s knuckle down and get some gambling advice for the divisional round:

NO – 3.5 | SF + 3.5

Selection: SF + 3.5

As I say every week: “Yes I know New Orleans seem to score 50 points every week but…” It’s all very well putting up 50 points against the terrible defences of the Lions and Panthers in the dome with the crowd cheering them on. It’s quite another travelling to a top-ranked defence which has had a week off and two weeks to scheme. I fancy the 49ers to win this one outright. The three and a half is just a bonus – SF are Fo’ Real.

DEN + 13.5 | NE – 13.5

Selection: DEN + 13.5

I am a believer. Tebow played a brilliant game against Pittsburgh. Not a Tebow-time, give-him-credit-for-recovering-an-onside-kick brilliant game. But a legitimately good game. We know NE can score, but can they stop Jesus? With this many questions, how can you not take the 13.5 (or even 14)?

HOU + 7.5 | BAL – 7.5

Selection: HOU + 7.5

Don’t have a strong read on this one, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Baltimore batter them here, but the numbers tell me this should be more like 4.5 than 7.5. I’m just not ready to lay more than a TD against a decent team with the Ravens (regular season losers against the like of Jacksonville remember).

NYG + 7.5 | GB – 7.5

Selection: No Bet

7.5 looks exactly right here. I was hoping this would get into double digits but I think the public has JUST started to question GB (New Orleans are the new darlings) and NYG will never be without public support. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Giants walked into Lambeau and won, but I’m in no hurry to take on Rodgers and his Pack.
