Spiderman to strike at Ayr ?

Great news this Tuesday morning, with the news that Ayr has survived an early morning inspection of the track. Latest information from the course suggests the ground is currently riding soft (heavy in places) and there is also the threat of high winds making their way up the Firth Of Clyde which
will make for a trying afternoon for jockeys on duty today.

Erycina started life with Michael Halford on The Curragh where she struggled to make an impression in some decent maidens. Her chances of shedding the maiden tag today have been simplified by the defection of Cadore and Phoenix Returns in the juvenile hurdle at 12.35.The recent Hexham winner Edge Of Town will be a warm order in the novice chase at 1.05 .Trained by McCain and ridden by Maguire, a firm that have an enviable 36% strike rate in chases here at Ayr.

Sammy Spiderman is something of a course specialist here at Ayr and Alistair Whillan’s nine year old looks for a fifth win around this circuit in the two and a half mile handicap chase at 1.35. Jim Goldie’s veteran grey Something Silver also likes a day out at Ayr having recorded his first victory at the track some five years ago. Two to play around with in the forecast market perhaps?

The field has cut up badly for the handicap chase at 2.10, a race where Posh Bird might have a chance with Ferdy’s veteran Negus De Beaumont nominated as the danger. The Nicky Richards trained Artic Night won well at Carlisle on his latest start and should be up to defying a seven pound rise in the handicap hurdle at 2.40. It should  be noted that this grey  is significantly the only mount on the card for jockey Dougie Costello this afternoon.

Racing at Ayr closes with the bumper at 3.45 where another grey, Ueueteotl, has a big chance. A Carlisle winner in October he faces only two rivals today with the news that Big Water and Bob’s Lady Tara have both declined today’s engagement.

Seven races on the fibresand at Southwell today where the claimer gets the card under way at 12.25. Punching and Ingleby Arch are two course specialists to consider having won seventeen times between them at the track.  Jockey Chris Catlin travels for one mount only, Diamond Finesse in the six furlong maiden at 12.55 while in the seller at 1.25 the visored Gracie’s Gift looks for course win number six this afternoon.

On The Cusp is a real improver and Richard Guest’s bay looks for a fifth course and distance win this afternoon in the one mile handicap at 1.55 .Check out Bill Turner’s blinkered runner  Six Of Clubs who looks to go one better in the one mile six handicap at 2.25 having finished second in this same race last year.

A couple of one trick pony’s in the sprint handicap at 3.00.Robert Winston takes his only mount on Clear Ice while Joe ‘from the front’ Fanning travels here for one mount also ,Love You Louis, for Royston handler John Jenkins. Final mention on the card for jockey Dave Probert who also travels up to Southwell for one mount only also , Littlecote Lady for Mark Usher in the concluding race on the card, the six furlong handicap.

Enjoy your racing this Tuesday afternoon and don’t forget to call us here at Star Spreads for all the latest market positions available. You won’t be disappointed!
