Liverpool v Manchester City

The second game I will be looking at in the Premiership this week is Sunday’s big clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.

The blue side of Manchester make the trip to Merseyside to take on Liverpool. There are a lot of holes to be picked in both teams opening day performances so let’s start with Liverpool.

The pool had a shocker in their first Premiership game under new boss Brendan Rogers but I think there has been a massive over reaction here. Yes they were beaten 3-0 away to West Brom; yes they gave away two Pen’s and yes the result makes most people think we are looking at the same old unreliable Liverpool.

I beg to differ – for 40 minutes of the game Liverpool out played and outclassed West Brom only to fall to a referee’s decision. Would either of the Manchester Clubs have suffered the same decisions? Liverpool are not as bad as the majority of people think and for a betting man like myself that is music to me ears.

Manchester City on the other hand may not be the world beater they are been made out to be. Yes they won their first game, at home I might add, but they conceded two goals to Southampton and looked as shaky at the back as I have seen them since they came into all of their millions. In my opinion letting in two goals at home is worse than three on the road.

Liverpool are a different animal at Anfield and City will be in for a proper test. I am siding with the Reds in this one and don’t think Liverpool should be 21/10 at home to anyone in the Premiership. Look at it this way: the top 6 or so teams can all beat each other on any given day. Add in the home field advantage (which in my view is never in the price enough in Liverpool’s case) and the fact that Liverpool are 21/10 with City at 11/8.

This is a no brainer for me.

Get on Liverpool to finish off you weekend with a smile.

Skipper.
