Watching Sport
Something I have thought about over the past couple of years is how much of an advantage or disadvantage watching sport is to punting.
I suppose it is different for everyone and some recreational punters only bet so they have something to watch and cheer for but this is not the situation in my case.
In my case I have found that watching sport has more of a down side than an upside when it comes to my punting.
Yes I love watching sport. I would happily spend my day watching football, NFL, tennis, horse racing, anything really. I have enjoyed watching sports a long time before I started punting on them.
But now that my punting is so important to my livelihood I find myself falling out of love with the sports I spent so many weekends on the couch enjoying.
When it comes to football which I regularly bet on I find that it is a lot easier to just check the results at the end of the day’s play rather than living every kick of the game. Watching any game in any sport where you stand to win or lose a substantial amount of money is not good for the head or the heart.
It is also a lot harder when placing bets against the likes of Manchester City or Manchester United if you can’t get the picture out of your head of them scoring 4 goals in the previous game or if the stats make Miami Heat a lay -12 points and all you can see in your mind is ”KING JAMES” smashing up teams left right and centre it can put you off very easily. On numerous occasions in the past I have been put off going with the bets I have clearly made good value by the fear of what I have seen in the weeks previous.
Numbers betting is a more profitable way of betting and in my opinion is the only way to make your punting pay. People who just want a thrill or ”Really Fancy” the even money Fav to win are just not thinking enough.
A sport which I have bet on this year, with some success, is MLB.
Me and my trusted friend ”The Natural” have done quite well off his numbers-based system and I have never even watched a full baseball game! This has further sparked the thought I’ll have to just not watch any sport at all. Why bother? If I thought never watching sport again would add a percentage to my yearly R.O.I then I would be a fool to even open a T.V guide.
I think I will start to apply this logic more and more to all sports I bet on. I may not watch an NFL game this year and I love watching NFL. Maybe just not watching teams I have bet on would be a start or games I have a vested interest.
I really just think this is the way to go. Time will tell but I am going to give it a go and hopefully with a clear mind and no clouded judgement I can concentrate more and more on the numbers and Hopefully earn a few more bucks.
Skip.
