Southampton v Manchester United

I don’t think we will be getting too many chances to back Manchester United playing a team who has just gained promotion at 6/10 this year. But this week we have the chance!

Usually it is the ‘wagony’ thing to back the fav in a football game but in my opinion it’s worse to just try to get them beat at every turn. Sometimes the value lies in the jolly and that is the case in this match up. Manchester United are a better team than Southampton and there is no denying that!

Southampton had a relatively positive start to their new life in the Premiership with a good performance (but a loss) against Manchester City but reverted to type with a home loss against Wigan. Are you seriously telling me that Wigan can beat Southampton away and Manchester United can’t?

Without Rooney (who didn’t start in the game against Fulham anyway) United are just as strong with the like of RVP and the very exciting Kagawa to step up to the plate. What price would Manchester United be if they were playing this game at home? 1/6, 1/7?

Are Manchester United really bad away from home? They weren’t the last time I looked at the stats! This just looks to be priced up totally wrong. Yes Southampton can play a bit of ball and have surprised many with how comfortable they look in the Premiership but they are 0 and 2 so far and I just think it is a lot more likely that it will be 0 and 3 come Sunday evening than these silly silly prices suggest.

It is early on in the season but I will be having my biggest bet of the Premiership so far on Manchester United at 6/10 so get on while you can before the Skipper scoops it all up.

Happy punting.
