Top 5 Summer Signings

Number 1 – Eden Hazard (Lille to Chelsea)

This 21 year-old is one of the hottest prospects in world football right now and has gotten off to a flying start for Chelsea. At Lille last season, he scored 22 goals in 48 games, with a further 16 assists to add into the mix.  He has linked up well with his Chelsea team-mates since his arrival at the Bridge and I expect him to keep improving as he adjusts to Premier League life.

Number 2 – Robin Van Persie (Arsenal to Man Utd)

Last season the Dutchman scored 37 times in 48 appearances in all competitions, an astonishing feat. As an Arsenal fan, it hurt to see him go to Old Trafford, but it must be said that Alex Ferguson got a bargain on this one. With Rooney having picked up a nasty thigh injury last week, it is just as well that Fergie snapped RVP up beforehand, because he may had to have paid more for his services if Arsenal thought for a second that United were desperate to secure a prolific striker in the absence of their established talisman.

Number 3 – Emmanuel Adebayor (Man City to Spurs)

Not the greatest striker in the Premier League, but Spurs has gotten a great deal here. Ade scored 17 goals in 33 appearances for Spurs on loan last season, and £5million for a player who is in for a goal every other game is good business by AVB. To make it all the more impressive, Spurs coerced Man City into subsidising part of Adebayor’s wages. City agreed as they were happy to get him off their books! This signing shall make the battle for a top-4 finish all the more intriguing.

Number 4 – Santi Cazorla (Malaga to Arsenal)

Cazorla is a player that has impressed early on, and one that Arsenal fans are looking to more than they are Lukas Podolski to provide the team with the injection of pace and creativity that it has lost in recent years. He bagged 26 goals and 26 assists from 160 games in his most recent stint at Villareal, and early days he looks like a really promising player that will fit the Arsenal mould very nicely.

Number 5 – Shinji Kagawa (Dortmund to Man Utd)

I’m not putting him into the list for his footballing talents, although he has started well at Old Trafford. He makes it into the top-5 on the basis that he has an Asian porn-star girlfriend. I am a fan of her work, and I wish more Premier League footballers dated porn-stars. It just fits the stereotype.
