Where will it all end?

Has the British worm turned? Have we gone from nations of gallant plucky losers to ones of brave winners? The Olympics, The Paralympics and now even Andy Murray has won a major. Where do we go from here? Is it down to the lake I fear? Where we’re winning more rowing and canoeing medals.

When England won 5-0 away at Moldova we dared dream that as no3 in the world we could win this World Cup. Number 3 how so? Anyway a scraped draw at Wembley v Ukraine brought us back down to earth. Anyway weren’t a lot of the golds bought in the Olympics where we got loads in the events with expensive equipment. Rowing, cycling, equestrian events etc.

Anyhoo look at me being the pessimist is been a great year all round for the UK and for once the BBC Sports Personality of the year could have several worthy winners. No scraping the barrel for the 10 this year and there’ll be a good showing from the ladies too. What am I looking forward to sportwise for the rest of the year ?

Well Michael Owen and Peter Crouch up front for Stoke with 62 England goals between them it would be great if they went goal crazy and got the call up for the national side, I can but dream. What’s that how’s the weight going? Well as no-one took me up on my free money offer (see previous blogs) it’s going slowly however the big figure is nearly down to 18 so not too bad really. How’s the sport going for my little ones?

Well my soon to be 5 year old seems to fancy himself as a martial artist and his signature move is the hi karate moo moo kick which is basically kicking me in the cream crackers, which isn’t good. My just 7 year old girl is now off the gymnastics but seems to be going swimmingly with the swimming particularly backstroke, Olympics here we come. Well see if I can start the physical regime tomorrow with a run.

On your marks, get set, I’m off.
