The Olympic bug has got me and my road to Brazil 2016 starts on Saturday. The missus bought me an archery lesson for my birthday and as it was my 46th birthday I reckon it’s the only Olympic event I could still do. I tried it a centre parks and beat the rest of my family so I have a very slight line of form. I’ll report back in my next blog and let you know how it goes.

On the sporting front I’m feeling bad as on Monday when I flew into Dublin it was the day of the Dublin Marathon and last year having done the local half marathon I had earmarked the Dublin Marathon as a possibility as it was a fairly flat course. The Dorking half marathon had more hills than something that has a lot of hills and the marathon consisted of doing the same course twice. Maybe I’ll have a crack next year cos if I can’t shift the lard soon I’m never going to.

My NFL picks have been excellent so far despite using the very basic Diane Chambers method. This involves imagining a fight between the teams. For example the first NFL match this week is Colts v Jaguars. Who would win a fight between a horse and a jaguar? A jaguar I think so I’ll go with the Jaguars on the spreads. Following this unerring logic my tips this week are.

Jaguars (-3) v Colts
Falcon (-2) v Saints
Patriots (-11) v Buffalo Bills (Patriots would certainly be bearing arms)
Panthers (+3.5) v Broncos (similar to Jaguars v Colts)
Lions (-1) v Vikings
Giants (-4) v Bengals
Raiders (+8) v Ravens
Buccaneers (-3) v Chargers
Titans (+6) v Dolphins (this is the banker clever though they undoubtedly are a dolphin could not defeat a Titan in a fight)
Jets (+6.5) v Seahawks (A jet against a bird no problem)
Cowboys (-1) v Eagles
49ers (-11) v Rams
Bears (-1) v Texans
Chiefs (+12) v Steelers

14 so if I get more than 7 right the systems working so I’ll let you know how it goes. Using this system I got the Superb Owl winner last year so let’s see how it goes. Wish me luck with my ridiculous system and cheerio for now.
