Pellegrini era to start with convincing win

It’s the Week 1 final match tonight with Manchester City at home to Newcastle under the new regime of Manuel Pellegrini.

Pellegrini has already strengthened the City side over the summer and it’s hard to see Newcastle getting a result tonight.

They’ve only ever taken a point in their last ten Premier League meetings and Man City will be keen to get off to a flyer especially as their principal market rivals Man United and Chelsea have already got off the mark in style.

Mar 2013 Premier Man City 4 – 0 Newcastle
Dec 2012 Premier Newcastle 1 – 3 Man City
May 2012 Premier Newcastle 0 – 2 Man City
Nov 2011 Premier Man City 3 – 1 Newcastle
Dec 2010 Premier Newcastle 1 – 3 Man City
Oct 2010 Premier Man City 2 – 1 Newcastle
Jan 2009 Premier Man City 2 – 1 Newcastle
Oct 2008 Premier Newcastle 2 – 2 Man City
Jan 2008 Premier Newcastle 0 – 2 Man City
Sep 2007 Premier Man City 3 – 1 Newcastle

An interesting stat for tonight is that City were the only team to score in every home game last season.

With a new manager to impress and a City side keen to send a message out – I’m keen on both superiority and goals tonight and will stake accordingly.

For me the play on Star Sreads would be to buy TOTAL GOALS at around 3.2
and to buy the Man City / Newcastle SUPREMACY at around 1.8
