Suarez the draw at the Etihad….
Happy Christmas everyone and we had a nice pre-Christmas boost on Monday with the Arsenal v Chelsea finishing 0-0 – the perfect result with the sell of goals on Star Spreads.
There’s every reason why today’s big match could end up the same way – particularly when you look at the recent head to head record between Man City and Liverpool….
HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Feb 2013 Premier Man City 2-2
Aug 2012 Premier Liverpool 2-2 Man City
Jan 2012 Carling Cup Liverpool 2-2 Man City
Jan 2012 Carling Cup Man City 0-1 Liverpool
Jan 2012 Premier Man City 3-0
Nov 2011 Premier Liverpool 1-1 Man City
Apr 2011 Premier Liverpool 3-0 Man City
Aug 2010 Premier Man City 3-0 Liverpool
Feb 2010 Premier Man City 0-0 Liverpool
Nov 2009 Premier Liverpool 2-2 Man City
Six of their last nine Premier League meetings have been draws, with City’s two wins and Liverpool’s solitary victory all coming by a 3-0 scoreline at home.
Just one point separate the two in the table, in favour of the visitors but the odds point towards City with home advantage.
They have a pristine home record at the Etihad this season, winning every single game but Liverpool will fancy their chances given their own current form and the injury problems facing City who remain without injured leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero and defenders Matija Nastasic, Pablo Zabaleta and Micah Richards.
For Liverpool Luis Suarez is getting better. He’s scored 36 goals in his last 34 games for Liverpool in all competitions and 29 in 26 Premier League matches in 2013.
I can’t see Man City losing but Liverpool might have enough to force a first draw of the season at the Etihad. I think there’ll be plenty of goals – there usually are with these two.
