Rule Britannia !!

The Britannia Stadium hosts the visit of Liverpool this afternoon at 4.10pm and at around 1/2 on the fixed odds it’s hard to summon up too much enthusiasm for Liverpool who have not won at Stoke in the league since November 1984 (D2, L3).

Stoke are proving a hard side to beat at home. They have lost only once at home in the league this season and have held Manchester City and Everton to draws as well as beating Chelsea which also suggests Liverpool are too short.

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Aug 2013 Premier Liverpool 1-0 Stoke
Dec 2012 Premier Stoke 3-1 Liverpool
Oct 2012 Premier Liverpool 0-0 Stoke
Mar 2012 FA Cup Liverpool 2-1 Stoke
Jan 2012 Premier Liverpool 0-0 Stoke
Oct 2011 Carling Cup Stoke 1-2 Liverpool
Sep 2011 Premier Stoke 1-0 Liverpool
Feb 2011 Premier Liverpool 2-0 Stoke
Nov 2010 Premier Stoke 2-0 Liverpool
Jan 2010 Premier Stoke 1-1 Liverpool

Stoke were 3-1 victors in the fixture at the Britannia last season and this season at Anfield could easily have finished 1-1 but for a last minute penalty save.

There’s mixed news on Liverpool’s star players. Striker Daniel Sturridge is set to return after seven weeks on the sidelines with an ankle sprain.

The England international returned to full training this week having not featured in a matchday squad since the Merseyside derby on November 23.

But centre-back Daniel Agger has been ruled out for three to four weeks with a calf strain.

Liverpool look far too short but I also don’t think there will be too many goals so am selling on Star Spreadss.
