West Ham v Man City. Answers on a postcard please…

Published On January 21, 2014 | By dominic | Star Spreads

Being lost for words is not, generally, the greatest thing to admit being a so called writer.

But I’m genuinely at a loss to try and sort out West Ham v Man City tonight.

Answers on a postcard please….

The good news is we gained a small but welcome profit last night with the draw at the Hawthorns.

Everton thought they had snatched the win when Distin turned in Gareth Barry’s shot with the final kick of the game but thankfully it was correctly judged offside.

That means a 14.8 point profit for the column so far this month.

So – it’s the second leg of the match that finished 6-0 to Man City at the Etihad:

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Jan 2014 Capital One Man City 6-0 West Ham
Oct 2013 Premier West Ham 1-3 Man City
Apr 2013 Premier Man City 2-1 West Ham
Nov 2012 Premier West Ham 0-0 Man City
May 2011 Premier Man City 2-1 West Ham
Dec 2010 Premier West Ham 1-3 Man City
May 2010 Premier West Ham 1-1 Man City
Sep 2009 Premier Man City 3-1 West Ham
Mar 2009 Premier West Ham 1-0 Man City
Aug 2008 Premier Man City 3-0 West Ham

Not surprisingly, Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini is expected to rest a host of players given their huge advantage from the first leg.

The game is won – but Allardyce is under massive pressure – particularly after West Ham were beaten 3-1 at home by Newcastle on Saturday in the Premier League and are now right in the thick of the relegation battle. The fact that previously ‘condemned’ teams such as Crystal Palace and Sunderland are starting to get some points on the board is certainly not helping West Ham’s cause.

And just when you thought things couldn’t get much worse for Allardyce his diary tells him his next match is a trip to play Chelsea…..

It could actually end up being the polar opposite of the first leg, and that’s why I’m having a go at selling goals on Star Spreads.
