Brighton v Hull. Not many goals.

Thank you Arsenal and thank you Howard Webb.

A welcome profit for the column yesterday as Arsenal scraped past Liverpool 2-1 but even I could see Liverpool were hard done by in not being awarded a second penalty. It certainly seemed an easier call than the first penalty.

On the subject of penalties does Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard EVER miss or even look like missing from the spot ???

More FA Cup action tonight, this time at the Amex Stadium where Championship side Brighton host Hull for the right to play Sunderland in the quarter finals.

It’s a match the market has struggled to price up – just favouring Brighton with home advantage and not a bad record overall against Hull.

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Feb 2013 Championship Brighton 1-0 Hull
Aug 2012 Championship Hull 1-0 Brighton
Feb 2012 Championship Hull 0-0 Brighton
Oct 2011 Championship Brighton 0-0 Hull
Dec 2005 Championship Brighton 2-1 Hull
Aug 2005 Championship Hull 2-0 Brighton
Mar 2001 Div 3 Brighton 3-0 Hull
Oct 2000 Div 3 Hull 0-2 Brighton
Feb 2000 Div 3 Hull 2-0 Brighton
Aug 1999 Div 3 Brighton 3-0 Hull

Both teams have bigger league priorities – Hull are doing much better than many forecast in the Premier League but are no means out of the woods yet – whilst Brighton are pushing to get into the playoff spots and are currently one place, but four points off that zone.

Brighton are bidding for a fifth successive home win (they’ve won their last four home games 1-0) to put them into the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1986.

Hull and the FA Cup are not often said in the same sentence. They were FA Cup semi-finalists in 1930 – the furthest they have gone in the competition.

Tough to call but I’m selling goals at around 2.15 with Star Spreads.
