Lightning surely can’t strike twice for Wigan?
We’ve all heard the football cliché ‘a game of two halves’, but what happened yesterday at Stamford Bridge was, excuse the language, bloody ridiculous.
It’s amazing how this game can make you look the village idiot. Having recommended a sell of Chelsea on the supremacy at 0.95 I was more than happy with the 0-0 after 55 minutes.
Then all hell broke loose.
The loss is taken on the chin – but today I’m after some profit – after all it’s a long week ahead and I’ll be recommended Cheltenham bets on Star Spreads all next week.
If you’re a believer in lightning striking twice – then you’ll get your stake x 20 returned on the fixed odds if Wigan can pull off another FA Cup win against Man City.
They caused a shock, not quite of seismic proportions, when beating them in the final last year but certainly gave the money bags side something to think about.
It looks as though normal service has been resumed for City this season though, a Carling Cup already safely locked away in the trophy room (and they beat Wigan 5-0 en route to that win) and still (mathematically) chances of the Quadruple – but looking far more like a Treble as Barcelona look to have extinguished their hopes in the Champions League after a 2-0 win at the Etihad.
City travel to the Nou Camp in just three days time for the second leg but Manuel Pellegrini has rightly insisted that won’t affect his desire for a win today and avenging the defeat at Wembley last year.

It could easily be a hammering today – even allowing for the fact that Wigan come here on the back of four straight wins.
The supremacy and total goals have already got that possibility totally factored into the prices so again I’ll have a look at the roller-coaster market of bookings.
I’m quite happy to buy at 32. It’s not unreasonable to expect a yellow card minimum in each half and I think on balance there’s a chance of a great deal more.
