Liverpool v Sunderland (8pm, SKY)

Published On March 26, 2014 | By David S | Star Spreads

Saved by the bookings…. again…. A nice profit of 133 points last night thanks to the sell of the bookings at Old Trafford.

We sold at 56 and escaped with a make-up of just 40 on Star Spreads. That helped mop up the loss on the sell of Man City on the supremacy index.

I’m not sure there can be much doubt about who will prove supreme tonight. Put it this way, Sunderland have NEVER beaten Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

As Trevor on the Star Sports (out sister company) trading desk said this morning punters are viewing this as ‘past the post’ already. Even the 2/11 wasn’t deterring backers with a price change to 1/6. Liverpool are also proving popular on all the handicap markets.

Man City maintained their own momentum in style last night and it’s becoming a little bit like a penalty shoot out at the moment. The next team to miss can throw away their chances.

It’s already more than factored into Liverpool’s title odds that a win here is a shoe in – and three points tonight will lift them into second, just one point behind Chelsea.

Sunderland looked doomed early in the season, then got themselves out of the danger zone, but have slipped back recently and currently sit third bottom, three points off the safety zone.

Liverpool have scored an amazing 24 goals in their last six games including a 6-3 win over Swansea at the weekend and with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers having no new injury concerns there’s unlikely to be any let up here.

I’m more than happy to be buying their supremacy at 2.5 – on the basis I was expecting it to be around 3.
