Championship Play Off / Champions League: Graham’s Preview

Champions League Final Preview

Real Madrid clash with city rivals Atletico in what promises to be a cracker to decide this season’s Champions League. Real are chasing a 10th European Crown and somewhat surprisingly have been ever since Zinedine Zidane’s spectacular volley in the 2002 final.

Atletico are chasing a remarkable double having secured the La Liga title with a 1-1 draw in Barcelona last weekend. They will be going into the final with no fear and lots of confidence and it could be argued that Los Blancos are the team under more pressure especially having finished their league campaign poorly and defeat to their rivals will ultimately mean a very disappointing season.

Atletico will be praying their talismanic striker Diego Costa is fit and Real’s main concern is who will replace the suspended Xabi Alonso who is such a key component to how they play. He is no doubt a huge loss in a game that looks very even.

The markets make Real a clear favourite but for me this is a ‘pickem’ game and therefore the value lies with Simeone’s men who could easily make it a historic double by edging a tight match.

Championship Play-Off Final Preview

The stakes are high at Wembley on Saturday when Derby County and QPR do battle for promotion to the Premier League and a reputed £30million pound windfall. Derby were impressive in despatching Brighton and I fancy Steve Mclaren’s Rams will have a bit too much for wily old Harry’s team.
