Heineken Cup final preview by James

Europe’s Premier club rugby competition comes to a climax on Saturday and with the players on show it promises to be a cracking game. Reigning champions Toulon bid to become only the third club to retain the cup after Leicester (2001 and 2002) and Leinster (2011 and 2012) and boast no fewer than 5 World Cup winners in their squad, including Jonny Wilkinson and Bryan Habana. They also have the ‘beast’ that is Mathieu Bastareaud. He doesn’t look the fittest, but when he gets moving, he’s extremely hard to stop. He is the type of player that keeps taking those hits and keeps getting you those gains.

Saracens will be looking to Farrell, Burger and Strettle to keep them ticking over in this final but their real match winner is Schalk Brits. Brits has great footwork and pace and you sense if Saracens are going to spoil Wilkinsons retirement party, he’s the man they will be looking for a big game from.

I’m still expecting Jonny to go out on a high, but this will be a hard hitting, tight game.
