Our daily columnist and pundit S.P.Read Esq. hit a profit of 50 points yesterday and now previews BELGIUM v RUSSIA (5pm).

If at first you don’t succeed – keep going until day five.

Probably not the most wisest advice I can dish out – but having chased the Royal Ascot distances market all week on Star Spreads it was a relief to finally get a pay day yesterday.

I went long (again !) and having bought at 8.8 – it was great to see the total stack up to 17.25 lengths, thanks especially to Telescope and his seven length win.

There was good news later in the day too with the buy of goals in the Germany v Ghana game. The goals took a while to come but four finally arrived which was good news as I bought total goals at 3.35 at the home of sports spread betting, Star Spreads.

All in all a profit of 50.05 points on the day.

Royal Ascot is over for another year but we can look forward to Wimbledon starting tomorrow and of course continuing action from the World Cup.

The Belgium v Russia game at 5pm (LIVE BBC) appeals for the most for a bet today.

Belgium were many peoples idea of live outsiders for the tournament outright and their young side got off to a winning start in Group H with a win against Algeria.

It wasn’t the most convincing of wins. Algeria had gone ahead through a first half penalty and it needed late goals from Fellaini (70 minutes) and Dries Mertens (80 minutes) to seal the victory.

However, Russia hardly impressed either in their opening game. The side, now led by former England boss Fabio Capello came from behind to draw 1-1 with South Korea after a goalkeeper error had gifted South Korea their lead.

Belgium should be able to get all three points in this clash at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.

In the last three times they have met, there has been a different result each time !

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
Nov 2010 International Russia 0-2 Belgium
Jun 2002 World Cup Belgium 3-2 Russia
Apr 1996 International Belgium 0-0 Russia

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany is expected to be match fit after a groin injury sustained in the game against Algeria.

I’m most tempted by a buy at 0.55 on the Star Spreads Belgium / Russia superiority market.
