S.P.Read Esq: Cheltenham Day One
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the opening day of the CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
Good result on the football at Old Trafford last night – I sold the time of the third match goal at 72 minutes and it arrived nicely, ahead of schedule, on 61 minutes so a profit of 11 points x 30 point stake = 330 points.
Anyway, enough football. The sport is banned for the next four days as I will be bringing you my Cheltenham Festival bets on Star Spreads.

There will be plenty of people tempted by the ‘Willie Mullins winners’ market which is currently trading at 5.5 – 6.
The County Carlow based maestro trainer has four solid favourites today and it’s hard to see how he won’t have an absolute minimum of two winners from the incredible ammunition of Douvan, Un De Sceaux, Faugheen and Annie Power.
Regular readers will know I love a tilt at the distances markets on Star Spreads and for the first day at Cheltenham this is set at 28-31.
The market is an aggregate of the winning distances on the card over the seven races and I am a buyer today. Therefore I am looking at an average of 31/7 = 4.4 lengths to collect.
Although the racing is hugely competitive, as always, at Cheltenham jockeys take no chances so you are guaranteed horses being ridden out to the finish as they are kept going up the Cheltenham hill.
Coupled with the fact that there are so many short price favourites on day one – surely one of these will romp home by a sizeable margin?
