S.P.Read Esq: Glorious Goodwood Day Two

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the second day of GLORIOUS GOODWOOD and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadGood result for the column on Tuesday with the success of Toormore in the Qatar Lennox Stakes. He made all the running and held on bravely – I thought we were in big trouble a furlong out.

I was a buyer on the Star Spreads 50/25/10 index so a profit of 750 points to the recommended stakes.

The ‘Duel On The Downs’ has failed to materialise this year in the Qatar Sussex Stakes with the news last week that Gleneagles misses the race due to the ground.

It’s dried up plenty since that decision was made which might well have been premature. The going is now good at Goodwood for day two of the Festival today.

It leaves the feature race seemingly at the mercy of multiple winner Solow who bids for a fourth consecutive Group 1 win.

The Freddie Head trained runner justified favouritism in good style when winning the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot and seems very versatile ground wise.

Those looking to get him beat will hope that the turning mile will prove too sharp for him but that might well be clutching at straws as it’s very hard to find fault with his CV.

Second favourite is Night Of Thunder but this one has 4 3/4 lengths to find with Solow on Queen Anne form and there’s no obvious reasons why that gap can be bridged.

Favourites have a great record in this race and I’ve every reason to believe that Solow is the banker that he looks.

Again, I’m a buyer on the 50/25/10 index.
