S.P.Read Esq: Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Capital One Cup 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday between SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v ARSENAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadA quartet of Capital One Cup matches tonight with Sky covering Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal (7.45pm) which will do for me. I’m glad they’ve avoided Stoke v Chelsea as I haven’t got a clue anymore what to expect from Chelsea.

It’s been 15 years since Sheffield Wednesday and Arsenal last met in the (then) Premiership and the Owls will no doubt be hopeful of pulling off another act of giant-killing after beating Newcastle 1-0 in the last round. They made a number of changes for that match and with them currently lying 9th in the Championship this game is hardly likely to be top priority although the visit of the Gunners and the SKY cameras will be a good spinner.

For Sheffield Wednesday defender Michael Turner, midfielder Alex Lopez and attackers Marco Matias and Modou Sougou are all out.

Arsenal went back to joint top (on points) of the Premier League at the weekend with their 2-1 win over Everton – a match in which all three goals came inside just 10 minutes.

Petr Cech will be back in goal with David Ospina injured. Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are all injured.

Olivier Giroud gave no indication that this match won’t be treated with the same respect as a league game. He said: “We need to keep focused on what we are doing well. We have a lot of confidence and we want to show that we can get stronger and stronger. If we carry on like that, then we will be difficult to beat. We want to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and we’ve got big games to come, so let’s see if we can keep it up.”
