Southampton are a short price for the win, they sit 10th in the table compared to Bournemouth’s perilous 17th – one place above the drop zone. At the beginning of the season Bournemouth would have surely taken ‘survival’ as being the number one priority and they may well achieve that simply by virtue of how poorly Newcastle, Sunderland and Aston Villa are playing.
Bournemouth have kept only one clean sheet so far this season and that came against (you’ve guessed it) Sunderland – they let in five against Spurs in their latest league game.
Southampton’s forward Jay Rodriguez is out struggling with a foot injury. Sadio Mane returns after serving a ban in the midweek League Cup win over Aston Villa. Shane Long remains sidelined with an ankle injury.
Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Artur Boruc has a thigh problem and misses the game against his former club.
