S.P. Read Esq: Feyenoord v Man Utd
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Thursday’s Europa League match between FEYENOORD v MAN U and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
They say a week is a long time in politics.
A few days is an even longer time in football. Anyone who saw Barcelona’s shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Alaves on Saturday could hardly have forecast their 7-0 demolition of Celtic just three days later.
I’ve a feeling we might also see a different Man U tonight. They suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Man City in the derby match at Old Trafford on Saturday but, as was demonstrated again last night, City have got themselves in superb shape this season and Man U should find Feyenoord much easier rivals.
The two sides met in the Champions League in 1997 with Man U winning by an aggregate of 5-2 across the home and away matches.
The Dutch side have made an unbeaten start to Eredivisie with 15 points from 15 but, with respect to their rivals, none are the same calibre of a Manchester United side.
However, it’s a United side without Rooney tonight who is being rested.
Jose Mourinho said: “Wayne has played every game since the start of the season.
“He has also played 90 minutes for England and he played 90 minutes last weekend and I want him to be fresh for the next match. In the position he plays, I have lots of solutions.”
The biggest consideration for punters is to assess how much they want to be at the party. Mourinho has admitted it’s not the competition they wanted to be in but will still give it their best shot.
He said: “We have to look at it with respect. I think we want to do well in the competition and for a club of our dimension to do well is not to be out in the group phase.”
