This will be a tough task for Chelsea but one which they have to pass to reinforce their own title claims. A win at St Mary’s would put Chelsea within a point of the co-leaders Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

“It’s too early to talk about the table or the title. We must improve game by game and trust in the work, that’s the most important thing.”
For Southampton Jay Rodriguez is a doubt and Chelsea will be without injured midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
