S.P. Read Esq: FA CUP FINAL
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Saturday’s FA Cup Final between ARSENAL v CHELSEA and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
It promises to be a cracker and hopefully it will live up to the billing as Arsenal take on Chelsea in the all-London FA Cup Final at 5.30pm.
The sides are locked on an aggregate score of 7-7 from their last three Premier League head to heads – if you prefer the more recent stat, Chelsea beat the Gunners 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in February in a match which was gone beyond recall and Olivier Giroud could only score a consolation.
Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Chelsea in September was the only time they have beaten their arch-rivals in 12 competitive matches so the stats, as well as the odds, are pointing towards Chelsea completing the double this afternoon.
Rather ominously for Gunners fans, Antonio Conte has the luxury of a full strength side to choose from which is pretty remarkable in itself at the end of a long season.
Arsenal are short of defenders, with Laurent Koscielny suspended, Gabriel injured and both Kieran Gibbs and Shkodran Mustafi having fitness doubts.
Many people believe, whatever the result, that this could be Arsene Wenger’s last match in charge.
Even Wenger himself has given his strongest hint yet: “It will not be my last match because whatever happens I will stay in football.
“Would it be a nice farewell? No, what I want is to win the next game. I love to win and I love to do well for my club. I want to win the cup for my club.
“It’s not about me, it’s about us winning the trophy and giving everything to achieve it.”
