The final Premier League game of the weekend is the most interesting, on paper at least.

Tottenham welcome Liverpool to their temporary accommodation in a head to head that has only seen ‘overs’ oblige once in the last five encounters.

Huge match for both but for different reasons. Spurs need three points to move into a share of second and five points adrift of Man City who can do little wrong at the moment.

Liverpool need a win to basically steady a shaking ship and reduce mounting pressure on manager Jurgen Klopp.

The pre-season fears about the ‘Wembley factor’ for Spurs have largely come true. Their only ‘home’ league win came last time out against Bournemouth and that was a far from convincing 1-0 success.  It seems Wembley is playing much more like a neutral venue which obviously counts against Spurs.

After a great start to the season Liverpool have dropped to eighth in the table. A midweek 7-0 thrashing of Maribor ended a run of three draws in a row but they have still only won one Premier League game from their last five.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said of his rivals: “I think for me it’s one of the best squad in the Premier League. Liverpool have unbelievable players and a great manager. I think it will be tough to play against them.

“I told the players I think we need to be ready to give our best and compete in our best way and to deserve to win. But sure it will be a very tough game.”

Alli returns for Spurs and the Alli/Kane axis very much tilts me towards the home win. It might even start feeling like home if Spurs can get a good win this afternoon.
