Rochdale supporters get their night at Wembley in the FA Cup and surely deserve a medal too for the long journey down from South Yorkshire on a bitterly cold night.

Somewhat against the odds, the game goes ahead tonight with Wembley painting all the lines blue in case more of the white stuff makes an appearance.

To say that Rochdale played above themselves at Spotland when holding Spurs to a 2-2 draw would be an understatement but worryingly they haven’t scored a goal in two matches since in League One – a 0-0 draw against MK Dons and a 1-0 defeat to Wigan.

Any hopes of a desperately needed return to form in the league hasn’t materialised and Rochdale are now a full 10 points away from safety at the foot of League One.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill said: “I’m looking forward to the game, not the trip. It’s not a day out.

“We are trying to do what would be an impossible task – play at Tottenham’s home ground and win an FA Cup fixture, a replay. It is a very difficult task for Premier League sides, never mind ourselves.

“Is it a dream to play at Wembley? It is a dream to win at Wembley. You’d rather be playing at Wembley in a cup final.

“It just happens that it’s Tottenham’s home ground this season. Too much is made of the special occasion – we are playing Tottenham in a replay.”

Spurs failure to hold on has a meant a replay they could have really done without and Mauricio Pochettino says he is likely to rotate players again.

Definitely out are defenders Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and Jan Vertonghen (ankle).

The winners will be away to Swansea in the quarter finals.
